Case Studies
Client A – Metal Traders
Ran a manual accounting system using handwritten invoices and ledgers. Our specialist reviewed the operation and proposed the use of the Sage 50 suite of programs. Working closely with the client’s accounting staff we identified priorities and agreed a project plan for the introduction of the new system. The client then engaged us to undertake the implementation and training. Internal workflow procedures were developed to ensure the benefits of the change were maximised. The system provides our client with accurate up to date management information and has facilitated a reduction of overdue debtors by nearly 40%.
During this process we identified a VAT overpayment of approximately £140,000. This has now been reclaimed.
Client B – Retail
A national retailer who was unhappy with their current accountant approached us. In competition with two other firms we undertook a free consultation and overview study. This process identified and quantified the problems with the current provider and set out the collaborative approach that we would take. The key features of our winning proposal were guaranteed schedules and dates for all accountancy work with named individuals and direct anytime contact with our specialist tax adviser.
Client C – Construction
Awarded a major new contract that increased turnover and net profits hugely but caused a problem with tax planning. Our approach was to introduce an innovative tax-planning tool that reduced our client’s corporation tax liability from 30% to just 6%.
Client D – Engineering
We became aware of a successful local business that had recently got into financial difficulties. We met with the owner who expressed a wish to retire. An existing client was in a similar business and we brokered the sale of the business to our client arranging the financing via one of our banking associates.
